Established in 1919, Glanvilles is still an independent family-run customer-centred business situated in the historic market town of Wadebridge, North Cornwall. We are passionate about food and therefore cookware. We believe helping our customers get the best out of their kitchen is both a privilege and a delight.
Our trained staff use their in-depth product knowledge to ensure our customers are given a unique shopping experience, giving advice and guidance to ensure the best items are chosen for any given purpose.
Over the years we have helped both commercial and individual customers with everything from Wedding Lists to Cake tin hire and from helping to fit major local holiday complexes to supplying professional bakers and chefs. We have even given advice on cooking the perfect Christmas dinner and baking that all important first birthday cake! We are flexible enough to help in whatever ways our customers need.
We are also proud to be involved with a variety of local community projects and good causes. Indeed, we are an integral part of the Wadebridge Youth Project for over 10 years, since its inception, and went on to actively support "Loaves and Fishes", a community café, for many years.
2019 saw us celebrate our Centenary –we are the oldest retail business in Wadebridge and still thriving despite the subsequent global pandemic. The shop has continued to adapt and is now Covid compliant.
Our History
Glanvilles was established in 1919 as Glanville & Sons by Mr Ernest Glanville Snr and his two sons Charles and Ernest. The premises on Polmorla Road, originally three cottages, was bought in 1938 and converted into shop premises. An extension was added in the 1950s and this resulted in the shop which is now the oldest established retail premises in Wadebridge. Still run by the same family, now including the fourth generation. The business has thrived on change and has evolved into the Cookware, Housewares and Lighting shop it is today.
Our Philosophy
We believe that our customers are at the heart of our business and that excellent customer service and quality are essential.
Our Vision
With the same family having served the community for almost a century, continually listening to their customers and evolving with them, they still strive to meet the needs of their present customers in order to serve them and future generations into the next century.
